Every first day of Chinese New Year, the Yaps carry out a family tradition of being vegetarians for that whole day. It was made to show respect for the animals that we cook and eat every year. And every year, a certain girl sure would whine about the lack of meat and complain. Of course, as she grew older, the complaints got less and less. But she would still grumble at least once on that day, without fail. That girl was...
me la, yalah. Sheesh.
Lol, i dunno how the veggies stand it. I seriously respect them alot la. And for those people trying also. I salute you, Melissa! =] Yeah, yeah, i know it's healthy eating, but still! The choices are limited drastically! Ask Melissa! Every recess she would ponder about what to eat, and end up with nasi lemak [without the egg & ikan bilis] and fruits. EVERY DAY. *shudders* Not that fruits isn't healthy or yummy, but i don't think that would really fill someone up everyday. Hmph.Okay lets shut up about that topic already. I'll tell you another tradition. One that doesn't torture your poor tastebuds with healthy food. Every single time the Yap family gets together, i'm sure to have a blast with my cousins closest to my age, Nicole and Wei Wei [yeah, similiar to mine right? It's a nick name too XD]. And we'll almost always mix up a concuction that's compiled up of all things possible that you can find at a family reunion dinner.
And boy, every time we do it, we end up with some disgusting, horrific, sludge that looks like it could mutate and come alive at any second. But this year, it actually looks edible! Well, it's cause we only used all the edible stuff. No tissue or crab shells or anything like that.
It's called The Ferugala =]
The flower's edible. I liked to collect them and eat them when i was young. But i stopped when my mom showed me how they stick the petals together [with glue]. Nicole said it mentally effected my mind. I disagree.
Left Nicole, right Wei Wei.
There were more pictures of the earlier stages, but not the beginning. Besides, the photo resolutions were too high because i forgot to change it. Whoops. Lazy to resize. If you can guess what is in The Ferugala, i congratulate you. Even i can't remember what we put in there. Remember that it was an all-vegetarian dinner, so even if there was stuff that looked like meat, it isn't. That's why it was so horrible.
Ugh, vegetables.
